Thank you for checking out Happymeerkatreviews.  I’ve moved on from this website and no longer blog, though the blog will remain online as an archive for everybody’s enjoyment.
Thank you for taking the time to visit and I hope you have a great day!

How Happymeerkatreviews Began…

Back in December 2015 I launched this website.  It was originally a site filled with many reviews I had done the previous year or so on Amazon UK.  However as I learned all about what blogging was and realised I had a true passion for books, this blog has evolved into what you see today.  It is now a blog filled with book reviews, poetry and articles and is making huge waves in social media.  Several of my articles have gone viral, getting 1000+ hits a day in their peak (rare prior to their posting).  I now write a variety of different articles on various subjects though in recent weeks they have been focused on Amazon and it’s reviewing guidelines – something many author’s have found interest in.

The poetry on this site is all my own.  I choose to write rhyming poetry and have a passion for getting across emotions.  Much of the poetry can seem sad or depressing but many people also enjoy those poems, as well as the ones with twists in  the end.

I began blogging book reviews back in 2015.  To be honest I didn’t know what blogging really was before that.  I had built a personal website a few years ago but blogging just wasn’t a big thing back then so the whole blogging world and the blogosphere was a very new thing!

Before I began this blog I had been writing reviews on amazon for about a year.  Reviewing is something I started enjoying and it was something good to focus on after a horrible time I had been through.  Suffering from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder – the cleaning type plus over-thinking things) and depression and anxiety made coping through a traumatic experience all the harder.  While my personal life was falling apart I found reviewing was a way to keep my thoughts off of all the bad and it gave me something to focus on and something to feel good about.

My reviews began by focusing on video and computer games I have amassed over the years and the colouring books I had discovered and enjoyed using as another form of therapy to take my mind of things.  The more I reviewed on amazon (things I had bought or owned from long ago) the more I started to come out of my deep depression.  When people started giving me compliments and thanks on reviews I had written it made me feel really good.  I felt useful and helpful which anyone with depression will know is so important.

After a while of writing reviews my ranking on Amazon UK climbed up and I was asked by people to review items and books.  It was amazing to have anyone ask me for a review.  The fact that anyone was even reading my reviews was good enough for me but to have people want me to write them is just amazing.  I really appreciate everyone who holds trust in me to give a review.  I always give honest reviews of things (my site tag line is Trusted Honest Reviews) and I feel so grateful to everyone who both asks me for reviews and reads those reviews.

So after amassing quite a few reviews on amazon I decided to create a website to put all those reviews onto…Just in case amazon ever decided to delete them (…how spooky that this has now happened with some of them).  At first I just copied those reviews and left them in menus at the top of this blog.  But after a while of book reviewing and realising that my real passion was for book reviewing (and most of my followers follow for the books too!) I decided to update the site.  I now have two sites.  One for book reviews plus my other writing which is all here.  And a second site called Happymeerkatreviews Products a site dedicated to all reviews for anything that isn’t a colouring or reading book.  A third site is due to be launched soon dedicated to colouring book reviews and more focus on colouring.

None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for the amazing support I have had from people here.  My blog followers, whether from wordpress, facebook, twitter, amazon or anywhere else on the web, are the reason I keep going.  If nobody wanted to read my reviews and other writing I wouldn’t keep this blog going.  And I would have given up some months ago when things became difficult.  It’s because of you that I keep going.  So thank you to everone reading this, and I hope you’ll want to stick around and have a read or talk to me :).

Feel free to comment on all posts and page that have comments open.  I also don’t mind people sharing my writing via the sharing buttons.  If you wish to re-print my work elsewhere then you MUST ask permission first and I will be always credited as the author of all the blog posts and pages I write :).

  1. Hi C! Great to finally make it to your blog! I feel like I’ve known you without knowing you? If you know what I mean. I’ve seen you around the net in different places. Happy reviewing!

    All the best

    1. Thank you and Hi. 😀
Sorry I’ve not replied until now. After going away at the weekend and then getting ill I wasn’t in the right mindset to say hello. I’m still a bit under the weather but should be back to normal in another day or so Anyway, It’s nice to meet you too! 🙂 You know me? Where have you seen me apart from here and recently goodreads? 😮 I

      1. Whoops, I’d recently forgot to post at My Trending Stories :o. It’s another platform to place my reviews and poetry and other articles but I’ve actually noticed a decline in the number of views I get there and I haven’t had anybody visit my site directly from there. It’s a mix of results. I think it depends on what you post on there. The ‘entertainment’ category where I publish book reviews has disappeared from the front page which is probably the main reason I don’t get many hits there anymore, however if you publish news politics and other more meaningful posts then it’s certainly worth posting. Are you thinking of posting there? I’d always say give it a go :). And it’s probably my own fault for not posting more often, I’d better go there and update with some new reviews and such :).

      2. Oh yes that’s true, I joined but haven’t had the time to really visit and post there yet, sorry I will do, just a bit all over the place the last few weeks. It sounds like a great idea. I haven’t read many mysteries (though I do enjoy them) but I do love a good thriller 🙂

  2. As a fellow book lover I am happy to come across your blog and always enjoy reading reviews. I’m always on the look out for good books to read. I love meerkats and your use of the happy meerkat blog title and picture. Where did that idea spring from?

    1. It’s the name I originally used on amazon. Originally just to buy things but then I started reviewing and the name stuck! Would you believe I randomly came up with it shortly after those annoying commercials for CompareTheMarket/Meerkat.com? Don’t know if you ever saw those but it just popped into my head one day, I had no idea it would be popular today :).

Thank you again, I hope you will enjoy some of the reviews I write and I certainly will enjoy reading yours :).

    1. Thank you for your concern. I’ve had some personal problems I had to deal with and it left me quite emotional so I wasn’t able to spend much time here. I’m going to blog about it.

Sorry I didn’t answer you sooner, but thank you so much for caring, it means a lot to me 🙂

  3. I feel for you dear… I know what it likes to be so sad about something or somethings that you almost forget to live!! It’s great to see you progress and moving on in life.

I would read your reviews soon. Added you on Goodreads. Look forward to read more from you. Stay happy, stay blessed. 🙂
