So here’s anther wonderfully ‘happy’ poem inspired again by the daily prompt challenge, today’s word being Silence . I’m not sure if this poem sounds right, it came out in a rather disconnected process today. Not sure what I’d written until I read it back and after that I didn’t really know if and what to edit so I mainly left it as was written 😮 ! So be kind in any comments please, especially if you think it’s terrible .
To Hear the Silence
Don’t want to listen, don’t want to hear,
Don’t want the silence to return.
Drown out the sound, put on the music,
No longer want to feel it burn.
Play it loud, louder than ever,
Can’t stand to hear the quiet.
Scream, shout, anything will do,
Snuff out the sound of this riot.
Take it away, don’t make me hear,
Can’t cope with all the pain.
Bring a sound, supress the nothing,
The thoughts will drive me insane.
Need them to leave, to go away,
Need to do something, to try.
Let myself hear, the empty, the hole,
Won’t manage it, let myself die.
No other words come to my mind, other than Beautifully Sad..

Cat or is is Kat, WOOOOWWWW !!! this totally opposite of my love for silence. But, I totally get this view point and oh my – what a powerful poem, emotions, fully loaded with the pain of silence. And there are times when the horrible empty silence is not nice. I guess i never think of that silence, i always think of the positive silence. But, that doesn’t mean that I havent felt the negative silence in mylife, I so have. But, reading your post enable me to appreciate how much I have moved on in my life and that is only because of meditation and positive thinking and being, and just changing the way I think.
Love this poem – really powerful stuff.
So one day miss book reviewer – will publish her poetry book …. !!
Great post. thought provoking for me at lease.
regards Bella

Thank you!! 🙂 I feel like you about moving beyond that part of my life. But it’s because I have been there that this poetry is able to be formed.

I love silence – to a point. My husband has the TV on 24/7, so when he leaves, I turn it off and enjoy the silence. Enjoyed your take on it, though! 🙂 I saw your blog listed in the Book Review Directory. I blog and write, and noticed that most reviewers work hard reading and writing reviews, but don’t get much traffic for all that work, including myself. Like Ryan Lanz, I’d like to feature your work on my site. Each week I feature a specific genre. If you have a book review for that genre post the link in the comment section. I will visit it and list all the links the next week and on my link page as well. You don’t have to read another book, but publicize a post you’ve already created. Yeah!!! I read that you review biographies. Here is a link for memoirs. http://wp.me/p7tP3I-eS.There is no catch. I’m retired, love to read and blog for fun. Marsha 🙂

Thank you. That’s one thing that everybody seems to say about my poetry that it’s ‘raw’. I didn’t know I wrote raw poetry, I just write it… lol 🙂
